Abstract

The aims of the research were to find out : 1) to identify the error made by the second years students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. 2) To to find out the most frequent error made by the second years students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. in academic year 2016/2017 It was a descriptive research in which the total sample was 60 students ( class XI ). The data was collected by conducting 30items of test questions. The finding showed the typical errorr that occured in transforming direct into indirect speech (statement, question, command) were error in Over Generalization which consists of 596 or 59% errors. After that, Altering Form is in the second position. It is 195 or 19% errors. Misordering is one of errors which made by the students, it consists of 110 or 11% errors.It is followed by omission; it is 87 or 9% errors.While in addition error, there are 19 or 2% errors.
