Abstract
This case study research aims to know the teacher perceptions of STEAM in an
English Language Teaching (ELT). This study was carried out in the Junior High School
in Cilacap Regency with six teachers from six schools as participants. This study used
qualitative descriptive research as the data gained from questionnaire, interview and
document analysis of the lessson plans. To investigate the teachers' perceptions, the results
of the questionnaire were tallied into percentages and then evaluated. The interview was
transcribed and evaluated to clarify the result from the questionnaire and the lesson plan.
The data revealed that six Junior High School teachers in the Cilacap Regency
perceive positively about integration of STEAM in ELT teaching. This perception
coming from their knowledge and understanding about STEAM. All teachers agree
that ICT is needed. In conclusion all the English teachers as participants understand that
STEAM is important to be integrated in the teaching of English and all of them have been
in efforts to implement STEAM in their teaching as seen from their lesson plans.
