Abstract

Bridges constitute a critical and strategic component of road infrastructure,
playing a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth movement of people, goods, and
services across regions. The condition of a bridge significantly impacts its
performance; poor bridge conditions can disrupt transportation activities and
potentially lead to casualties. This study aims to assess the condition of the Logawa
Hilir Bridge in Patikraja, calculate its remaining lifespan, and determine the
necessary interventions based on its condition. Two methods, the Bridge
Management System (BMS) and the New York Department of Transportation
(NYSDOT), are employed in this research. According to the BMS method, the
Logawa Hilir Bridge is categorized with a condition rating of 2 (slightly damaged),
while the NYSDOT method yields a Bridge Condition Rating (BCR) of 5.708
(slightly damaged). In the BMS method, the bridge condition rating ranges from
good to poor, with values between 0 and 5, whereas in the NYSDOT method, the
rating ranges from poor to good, with values between 7 and 1. Based on the
obtained condition rating, the remaining lifespan of the Logawa Hilir Bridge in
Patikraja is calculated to be 19 years, with the normal expected lifespan being 40
years. This indicates a 52.50% decrease in the remaining planned lifespan of the
Logawa Hilir Bridge. Comparing the BMS and NYSDOT results, it can be
concluded that both methods recommend similar interventions, specifically routine
and periodic maintenance to ensure the bridge performs according to its planned
lifespan. The NYSDOT method, however, does not provide assessments for
addressing floor drainage systems, supports, and other accessory structures.
