Based on the preliminary study results, 40 out of 75 respondents, or 53.3%
of UMP students from all faculties, complained about the interface of the Onclass
application. Therefore, a redesign or improvement of the interface is proposed
using the Design Thinking method, which is an innovative approach centered on
humans, where the needs of people, technical possibilities, and requirements for
application success are integrated with the help of design tools. Design thinking
can provide solutions to complex problems (Fariyanto et al., 2021). The process of
conducting this final research involves several stages, including the initial research
study that implements design thinking to solve problems, conducting interviews to
understand user's basic complaints, and using questionnaires to gain a more
detailed understanding of the problems. After understanding the problems and
finding solutions from previous research, this research report is compiled. The
method used in redesigning the application is the design thinking method, which
includes stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test.
Analysis of the current Onclass interface gets marginal results with a score
of 55, while the design of the new Onclass interface gets a score of 78 which is
interpreted as acceptable. This score was obtained through a survey of a sample of
users, especially UMP students. Onclass's latest interface design received positive
attention and feedback, and was considered more efficient and attractive compared
to the previous interface. However, this design still needs input and refinement so
that it can be widely used, including in the appearance of the website and having a
responsive appearance on various types of gadgets.
