Abstract
The three-way intersection of Linggamas Sokaraja is a junction of three directions:
the northern arm is Jl. Kalibagor Sokaraja, the eastern arm is Jl. Wijayakusuma,
and the southern arm is Jl. Gatot Subroto. This study aims to determine the
effectiveness of traffic lights at the Linggamas-Sokaraja intersection. The research
method involves conducting a traffic volume survey and analysis using the
Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI 1997). Based on the calculation results
under the existing conditions using the MKJI 1997 method, the degree of
saturation (DS) at the intersection is 0.873. This indicates the level of service (E),
where the traffic volume classification approaches capacity, the flow is unstable,
and the speed is sometimes interrupted. To address this, road widening and
changes in cycle time were implemented, resulting in a degree of saturation (DS)
of 0.722 and a service level (C). Under this classification, the field conditions are
stable, but the speed and vehicle movementare limited by traffic conditions, and
drivers are constrained in choosing their speed. Through the analysis of the
Linggamas Sokaraja intersection calculations in the existing conditions using the
MKJI 1997 method, the effective signal time was determined to be 70 seconds.
After the road widening, the effective signal time increased to 93 seconds. The
widening was carried out on Jl. Kalibagor Sokaraja by 1 meter, on Jl.
Wijayakusuma by 1 meter, and on Jl. Gatot Subroto by 1.1 meters.
