Abstract

Writing lesson in this case fabricated in elementary school should be based on a theme or topic that has been determined in the curriculum. Creating teaching materials is one form of the learning process to correct or improve the quality of learning that takes place one learning approaches used for development is to apply the whole language approach in teaching and learning. Whole language approach consists of eight components (1) reading aloud, (2) journal writing, (3) sustained silent reading, (4) shared reading, (5) guided writing, (6) guided reading, (7) independent reading, and (8) independent writing. The use of whole language approach applied teachers are expected to improve students writing achievement, especially in the writing experience. The study was conducted at two schools in Karangpucung 1 elementary school Purwokerto and National 3 Languages Putera Harapan elementary school using methods of research and development (R & D). The scope is the development of teaching materials writing experience with the whole language approach to learning Indonesian elementary school fifth grades. The data collection technique in the form of questionnaires and questionnaires needs validation test. Data analysis techniques used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. Assessment of prototype teaching materials writing experience with the whole language approach to the fifth grade elementary school students by experts and teachers include aspects of (1) the presentation of the material; (2) material; (3) language and legibility; and (4) graphic. The results of the study teachers want teaching materials designed is attractive, practical, and in accordance with the students' understanding. The arrangement of colors, images, and written on the front cover of the book is placed in the appropriate position and attractive look. Forms of textbooks written instructions packaged with A4 size 21.0 x 29.7 cm. The paper type book covers these materials and parts used soft cover book content using the HVS 80 gram. Instructions for use book is laid before Chapter 1. Fill in this book is the material terms of writing experience, traits that need to be considered in the writing experience, examples of writing experience, and the steps of writing experience. In addition to materials, teaching materials writing experience is also provided with a summary of the material, exercises, assignments, and evaluation. Through this teaching material students not only know the theory of writing experience, but also know how to write the experience, listen to the correct reading, and increase the confidence of students to read the results of his writings.
