Margasari District is one of the 18 districts in Tegal Regency, with 13
villages, including Prupuk Selatan, Kaligayam, Dukuhtengah, Wanasari,
Danaraja, Jembayat, Margasari, Pakulaut, Karangdawa, Kalisalak, Jatilaba,
Prupuk Utara, and Marga Ayu. This research focuses on the village of Marga Ayu,
where approximately 80% of lodging providers offer boarding houses (kost).
Boarding houses (kost) are temporary lodging facilities with varying amenities and
prices. However, many kost owners still rely on traditional methods such as paper
or banners to provide information to prospective tenants. This is inefficient because
finding kost accommodations requires a significant amount of time and effort,
especially for people coming from outside the area. The number of available kost
accommodations is also insufficient to meet the demand, making the search process
challenging. The proposed solution to address this issue is to design and develop
an Android-based kost search application to assist those looking for kost
accommodations in the Marga Ayu village. The software development method used
is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with a Waterfall Model approach.
This application is expected to simplify kost providers in promoting their kost
accommodations, enhance efficiency in searching for kost accommodations, and
facilitate the growth of the population moving to the area.
