Abstract

This research aimed to test effect of ownership structure, and corporate
governance mechanism of company on agency cost. The independent variables in
this research were institusional majority ownership, government majority
ownership, foreign majority ownership, proportion of independent commissioner
board and the number of board meeting in a year. The dependent variable was
agency cost. This research was categorized as quantitative research. The objects
of the research were manufacturing companies listed in Indonesian stock
exchange in period of 2013-2015. The samples in this research were 62
companies. The data collection technique used in this research was purposive
sampling while the data analysis techniques used were statistical descriptive,
classical assumption test, multiple regression analysis and hypothesis test. The
results showed that partially, institutional majority ownership, government
majority ownership, foreign majority ownership, the proportion of independent
commissioner board had positive and significant effect on agency cost. However
the number of board meetings in a year had positive but not significant on agency
cost.
