Abstract
Today moral degradation is rife among high school students. Behaviors that run into morals, ethics and law from mild to severe are still often carried out by students and students. One of the efforts to overcome moral degradation is character education. In addition to the problem of moral degradation above, there has been a lot of talk about the integration between science and religion in recent years. Chemistry learning as a branch of science that specifically examines material can be seen as a product, a scientific process, and a scientific attitude. The purpose of this study was to determine the integration of Islamic character education in chemistry learning at Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto High School and the character of students at Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto High School who took part in chemistry lessons. This research is a field research with a qualitative type, namely a type of research that uses research procedures that produce descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behavior. This research is a study of the integration of Islamic character education in chemistry lessons for class X and XI at SMA Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Data collection techniques with observation, questionnaires (questionnaires), interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model analysis which has three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. The results showed that the integration of Islamic character education at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto was implemented in school culture including tadarus al-Qur'an before carrying out teaching and learning activities, performing midday prayers and asar congregation, khitobah program, and there was also an Al- Qur'an reading and writing program. 'an. The integration of Islamic character education in chemistry learning at Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto High School has not been textually contained in the learning documents, but indirectly the values of Islamic character during the chemistry learning process are implemented and some material is conveyed by integrating verses of the Qur'an in accordance with chemistry teacher abilities.
