Character education is a key element in shaping morally upright students. In
Indonesia, many cases have contributed to a decline in social standards, leading to
poor leadership character. This situation underscores the importance of implementing
character strengthening programs in schools to positively influence students' character
values. The objective of this research is to describe the Leadership Journey program
as a means of strengthening leadership character and independence. This research
employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Research
subjects include the school principal, teachers in charge of the program, sixth-grade
teachers, and several sixth-grade students. Data collection methods involve
observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis employs the Miles and
Huberman Technique, validated through triangulation of techniques and sources. The
findings of this research indicate that the implementation of the Leadership Journey
program to Semarang has been successful in enhancing leadership character and
independence by involving sixth-grade students as participants. Through the
Leadership Journey program, students are able to cultivate and reinforce indicators of
leadership character such as decision-making ability, motivation skills,
communication skills, self-control, responsibility, and indicators of independence
character including enthusiasm for learning, self-confidence, discipline, a sense of
responsibility and independence from others, and thriftiness. The enthusiasm of
students in engaging in these activities has been a positive supporting factor
throughout the program. Challenges include differences in opinions and behaviors that
are difficult to manage, although this is common among elementary school students.
