Politeness Approach in Pinocchio Movie. Undergraduated Thesis for Sarjana Sastra Degree, English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences and Communication, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This research aims to identify Politeness approach in Pinocchio movie used Leech,s Maxims theory viewed from politeness and the scale of politeness. The data used in this research were Pinocchio movie and its transcript. In conducting this research, the researcher found that there are six types of maxim of Leech's politeness theory. They are tact tnaxitn, generosity maxim, approtration maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. The method used is a qualitative method. Based on the research analysis, there are several Leech's politeness maxims applied in the utterances used by ull the characters. The most dominant maxim used by the characters in their conversations were agreement maxim, where the researcher identifled 16 data. After that, the researcher found 4 data applied tactiraxim.
