Abstract
Schools, as educational institutions, are places of learning to develop and
encourage learners. The approach to student learning in schools can be done by
teachers interacting directly with students as they learn through strategies and
methods of learning in school. Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) helps
teachers connect the material they teach with real-life situations for students and
encourages students to connect its application with the knowledge they need to
build, especially in Islamic religious education, with the help of a CTL approach
that is closely related to such learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the
implementation of the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) method on the
enthusiasm and improvement of fiqh learning among eighth-grade students at SMP
Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto.
This research uses field research type and an approach using qualitative
approach. The research subjects were teachers and students. The data collection
techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, for
data analysis techniques, deductive and inductive with stages of data reduction,
data presentation and conclusion drawing were employed.
The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the contextual
teaching and learning method on the enthusiasm of fiqh learning in eighth-grade
students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto has been carried out well, indicated
by the implementation of three stages, namely introduction, core activity, and
reflection/evaluation in learning. This can provide an easily understandable
comprehension for students. Students' enthusiasm for learning has increased. This
is evidenced by the response, attention, and awareness in learning as evidenced by
students being more diligent in completing assignments from teachers, striving to
apply and do things that have been exemplified by teachers in daily life during the
implementation of worship. There are several indicators of learning enthusiasm,
including: 1) Active participation of students in class discussions; 2) Positive
perception of learning; 3) Increased interest in learning; 4) Self-directed learning
initiative.
