Abstract

The use of natural potential by rural communities for state-owned pine
forests has been carried out by various communities in Indonesia, including in
Jipang Village, Brebes Regency, with various forms of cooperation in aspects of
its management. In general, tappers (pine forest sap collectors) will get wages
from the sap they tap, although sometimes there are misunderstandings between
tappers and companies. This study aims to determine the practice of setting wages
for pine resin tappers in the perspective of Islamic law in Jipang Village, Brebes
Regency.
This type of research is field research with a descriptive qualitative
approach with the subject and research object of the community or pine forest
tappers in Jipang Village, Brebes Regency. The data collection techniques in this
research are interviews, observation and documentation, while the data analysis in
this research is inductive, namely analyzing specific data from the field and then
dividing it into units, followed by categorization.
The results of this research indicate that the practice of wages for pine sap
tappers in Jipang Village, Brebes Regency, is generally carried out in accordance
with the provisions made by the company (Perhutani) both verbally and in
writing. However, from the point of view of the pine sap tappers, it was found that
there was still a lack of understanding of the prices set by the company because
this was considered by the foreman as a company secret, but this had been agreed
to be mutually accepted between the tappers and the company. From the
perspective of Islamic law, this practice is declared legal because there has been
an agreement between both parties to accept the accuracy of determining the price
of the rubber.
