Abstract

Background: Carbonated canned drinks are drinks that contain carbon dioxide
gas in the drink. Although the use of cans has many advantages in packaging,
there are some drawbacks, namely the safety of the product and the impact on
food and beverages that must be considered in the future. Contamination from
lead (Pb) and tin (Sn) materials on canned food or beverage packaging has been
determined. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) This method is a
method that has a high level of sensitivity, good level of selectivity, relatively
simple implementation, and easy to use. Purpose: knowing SSA can detect metal
compounds and find out how much metal contamination is in soft drinks.
Method: carbonated drinks are digested with HNO3 in a ratio of 1:3 and digested
until clear and aspirated into an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS).
Results: All carbonated drinks in cans circulating in traditional markets and
supermarkets in the Purwokerto area do not contain lead (Pb) and tin (Sn)
contamination so they are safe for consumption. The results of this study can be
adapted to SNI 7387:2009Conclusion: Atomic absorption spectrophotometry
(AAS) can be used to analyze tin (Sn) metal compounds and cannot be used to
analyze lead (Pb). And samples of canned drinks do not contain Pb and Sn metals.
