Abstract

Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama are the biggest Islamic community
organizations in Indonesia. Both have the same direction of movement, namely in
the field of community welfare. Muhammadiyah and NU are able to be at the
forefront of contributing to developing education in Indonesia. Both have the
same system, which focuses on religious and general education that synergize
with each other. This is in line with the sophisticated millennial era, so that many
problems come up that require a person not only to understand in general science
but also to have a strong character of religiosity. Of course, this is a challenge for
Muhammadiyah and NU, which both have educational institutions to alleviate
these problems. This research was conducted in Purbalingga Regency, precisely
at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Kaligondang and MTs Ma'arif NU 07 Selakambang.
This research is Descriptive Qualitative type. The population in this
research is SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Kaligondang and MTs Ma'arif NU 07
Selakambang as well as all activities carried out in both educational institutions.
The sample in this study is the principal of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Kaligondang
and MTs Ma'arif NU 07 Selakambang. Determination of the sample through
purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Data collection in this
study used interviews, documentation, observation. Data analysis was carried out
with stages in the form of data reduction, data display and verification.
The results found that the dynamics of the development of Muhammadiyah
and Nahdlatul Ulama Basic Education in Purbalingga Regency by continuing to
make efforts to improve quality and quantity. Quality improvement in all parts,
both from the quality of teachers, infrastructure, education system and also
cooperation with related parties. Increasing quantity is also done both from
students and stakeholders in the school to jointly develop education, especially in
the Purbalingga area.
