Abstract
The discussion method in education is a method of delivering learning materials, where teachers provide opportunities for students to collect opinions, make conclusions, or compile various alternative problem solving through interaction in groups, together exchanging ideas about an issue with the aim of solving a problem, responding to a problem, increasing knowledge or understanding, to be able to make a decision. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the discussion method in learning Aqidah Akhlak, to determine the learning achievement of students in Aqidah Akhlak subjects using the discussion method, and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the discussion method at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Paguyangan.
This research includes qualitative research of descriptive type. In this study, researchers used three data collection methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses primary data from interviews where the collected data will be analyzed qualitatively using a descriptive method, which describes a picture of the data obtained and connects with each other to obtain a general conclusion.
This research shows that the application of the discussion method at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Paguyangan is quite good, but unfortunately the provision of introductory material by the teacher takes too much time, resulting in reduced discussion opportunities for students, as a result there are several steps that are not applied. There is an increase in student achievement in Aqidah Akhlak subjects using the discussion method. Things that support the use of discussion methods at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Paguyangan are student activity in discussing, accuracy in forming groups, availability of information sources in the form of gadgets and books, and classroom conditions that are far from noise because of its location which is quite far from the highway. The inhibiting factor is that there are still some students who are passive in discussing and too much time is taken up to provide an introduction to the material before the discussion.
