Abstract

Education is inseparable from human life as it contributes to the development of students' potential and plays a crucial role in societal advancement. The aim of education is to cultivate individuals who are faithful, pious, and adept at tackling challenges. Spiritual intelligence serves as the foundation for effectively harnessing IQ and EQ, with spiritual nurturing beginning at an early stage. The incorporation of spiritual concepts in learning can harmoniously blend faith, knowledge, reason, and religion to foster a wellrounded personality. Spiritual intelligence provides the groundwork for a child's success in attaining happiness in both the world and the hereafter. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping the spiritual intelligence of 10th-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja. This research is a qualitative study. The subjects of this study are Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The collected data is analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions based on theories and field findings. The researcher found that at SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja, the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is highly significant in cultivating students' spiritual intelligence. Islamic Religious Education teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah play the roles of educators, guides, and motivators. They assist students in overcoming challenges, developing their skills, and providing motivation to learn and achieve academic goals. Through spiritual intelligence, students undergo positive growth in their understanding of religion, morality, and empathy towards others. Moreover, religious activities such as recitation of the Quran, Quran memorization, and congregational Dhuhr prayers (midday prayers) have a profoundly positive impact on students' spiritual connection.
