Abstract

This research aims to describe the character values in the lyrics of Disney
movie soundtracks in the Indonesian language on YouTube in November 2022. The
data were collected from sentences in the lyrics of Disney movie soundtracks in the
Indonesian language on YouTube in November 2022. The data source is the lyrics of
Disney movie soundtracks in the Indonesian language on YouTube during the
specified period. Data were collected using basic techniques such as tapping and
observation methods with advanced techniques including listening and note-taking.
This study shows 8 values of independent character, 4 values of cooperation
character, and 4 values of integrity character. The unidentified character values
include the religious technique and the nationalist technique. The religious character
value is not identified because the researcher did not find direct context indicating
faith in God and its teachings, while the nationalist character value is indicated by no
relevant context related to expressions of love and loyalty towards the nation and the
country. The character value most commonly found by the researcher is the
independent character value because Disney films tend to teach attitudes, qualities,
and actions that are not dependent on others, which is reflected in the lyrics of Disney
movie soundtracks.
