Abstract

Reading the Qur'an is important for all of us as Muslims, because the Qur'an
is the holy book of Muslims. Learning difficulties in reading the Qur'an are still
found in many students, especially those who are not fluent until they cannot read
the Qur'an. Seeing this phenomenon requires special tutoring to overcome learning
difficulties in reading the Qur'an in students. In addition, it takes a strategy that must
be carried out by the school in overcoming this, one of which is through the
guidance of reading the Qur'an at school. The factors behind the problem are
internal and external factors. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to overcome
this problem, one of which is through the guidance of reading the Qur'an. One of
the methods chosen is the iqro method with the aim of knowing the improvement
of students' ability to read the Qur'an by applying the iqro method to the Al-Qur'an
reading guidance program at MTs Al-Mu'awanah Kawunganten Cilacap.
This research uses a mixed approach, namely qualitative and quantitative
with the type of research is class action research (PTK). The procedure uses:
Planning, implementation, observation, reflection. The subjects of this study were
teachers of the Al-Qur'an reading guidance program and group A students. Data
collection techniques used observation, tests and documentation. Data analysis was
carried out in three steps, namely: pre-cycle, cycle 1, cycle II.
The results showed that the Iqro method can improve the ability to read the
Qur'an of group A students of MTs Al-Mu'awanah Kawunganten Cilacap. This is
evidenced by the increase in students' reading ability from the pre-cycle stage to
cycle II. After the first cycle using the Iqro method by applying its principles and
special characteristics, there was an increase in sufficient ability of 39.0%, then
carried out again in cycle II by still using the Iqro method by applying its principles
and special characteristics, there was a very satisfactory increase of 83.0%. So
according to researchers, this method can improve the ability to read the Qur'an of
group A students of MTs Al-Mu'awanah Kawunganten Cilacap.
