Abstract

Education is an important foundation in shaping the character and
personality of the younger generation. Education plays an important role in
ensuring the survival of the nation and state, because education is a vehicle to
improve and develop the quality of human resources. One of the main goals of
education is to form students who have noble character, integrity, and are able to
apply religious values in everyday life. However, in reality, student delinquency is
one of the problems faced by many schools. In this case the teacher has an important
role and responsibility to provide quality education. The purpose of this study is to
determine the role and efforts of Islamic Guidance and Counseling teachers in
overcoming delinquency in students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto.
This research belongs to the qualitative type, carried out at the time of data
collection, and after completion of data collection within a certain period. For this
reason, research data was collected and analyzed using qualitative descriptive
methods. In this study using three data collection methods including observation,
interviews and documentation. The analysis process of this study uses qualitative
models from Miles and Humberman, including data reduction, data presentation
and conclusions.
This study shows that the role and, among other things, of the BKI teacher
in overcoming student delinquency, namely: helping students develop the potential
that exists within them, assisting students in making plans to achieve certain goals,
and assisting students in solving the problems they face. As well as the efforts of
Islamic Guidance and Counseling teachers in tackling student delinquency, namely
in a preventive manner as follows; carry out Duhur prayers in congregation tadarus,
help overcome problems faced by students, and establish cooperation with parents.
