Abstract
In petroleum processing water there is liquid waste which is then processed in the
WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) unit and then to the holding basin before
being discharged into the environment. Outlet Clean Water is waste that comes
from the results of processing in the Waste Water Treatment Plant unit that
contains certain characteristics. WWTP PT Pertamina RU IV Cilacap is part of a
liquid waste treatment unit whose one parameter is still high, namely ammonia.
This is due to the high value of ammonia in the wastewater from the petroleum
processing which makes the performance of the WWTP and holding basin
difficult. This has an impact that the Outlet Clean Water's ammonia content is still
above the waste quality standard. This has the potential to make the ammonia
content out of control in the holding basin area. In this study, the wastewater
treatment process of Outlet Clean Water WWTP with coagulation method using
Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) which aims to reduce ammonia parameters so
that ammonia will be controlled in the holding basin area and out into the
environment according to quality standards according to PERMEN LH No.19
Year 2010. The research was conducted with 2 variables changed, namely the
dose and speed of rapid mixing. The condition of the initial sample before the
ammonia experiment was 63.5 ppm. The first variable that was carried out in the
experiment was the dose of PAC (2000,3000,4000,5000,6000), where it was found
that variations in the dose of PAC had an effect on reducing ammonia levels in
water, with a dose of 6000 ppm resulting in a decrease of up to 25.25 ppm with a
percentage of 60.23 %. After that, experiment with the second variable, namely
variations in the speed of rapid mixing. The results obtained are variations in
rapid mixing (150,175,200,225,250) have no effect in reducing ammonia levels.
Based on the results of the analysis of the ammonia parameter, the potential for
ammonia escape to the environment can be eliminated.
