Abstract

This study aimed to 1) analyze the factors that affect rice consumption in Banyumas Regency, 2) analyze the trend of rice consumption in the regency, 3) analyze the elasticity of rice consumption in the regency. The research was conducted in Banyumas Regency, Jawa Tengah Province. Data collection was carried out from April 2020 to January 202I using a quantitative descriptive research method with a secondary data analysis (ADS) approach. The data were collected by analyzing secondary data obtained from the website and archival documents belonging to the relevant agencies. The analysis utilized multiple linear regression analysis from the processed calculations obtained by the
regression equation Y = 162991072,839 + 13, 939 XI + 1,110,792 X2 + 1,073,5I9 X3 + 189,537 X4 + e. The results of the analysis for regression obtained F-count 33.622 F-table 3.34, thus the hypothesis stating that the variables of rice production, rice prices, shelled corn prices, and soybean prices simultaneously affected rice consumption in Banyumas Regency. The trend of rice consumption from 2001-2018 in Banyumas Regency tended to increase with an annual increase rate of 1,000,000 Kg from the average rice consumption of
179,659,411 Kg per year. Demand elasticity for the static model was based on price elasticity, namely elastic rice production (27,656 1), elastic rice prices (37,I64 1), elastic dry shelled corn prices (21,248 1), and elastic soybean prices (6, 702 1).
