Abstract

Background: Cream is a topical preparation that is often used by the public. This
is because creams spread evenly and air creams are easier to clean with air. To
obtain the optimal formula, optimization can be done. D-optimal Mixture Design
is a program and one of the methods that can be used for optimization. The
advantage of this program is the accuracy that reaches 0. 001. Oktyl
methoxycinamate or EHMS. It is a water insoluble liquid. OMC is one of the most
widely used UV-B filters with excellent potential as protection for organic
compounds, ideally it can be used in sun care and day care this product for
everyday protection against UV-B rays. UV-B radiation (wavelength between
280-320 mm) affects, especially the epidermal layer of the skin, because it
penetrates to the base layer, which can cause erythema (sunburn). Frequent and
intense exposure to UV-B rays can increase the risk of a fatal mutation eventually
leading to skin cancer. Consequently using sun care products, when going to
expose the skin to sunlight it is very important to create a healthy and beautiful
appearance.
Conclusion: The EHMS formula for various cyclomethicon, dymeticon, and
glyceryl monostearate sunscreens may influence and determine the physical
properties of the preparations including adhesion, spreadability, viscosity and
pH. The experimental design and formula optimization technique that is most
suitable and can be applied practically is the D-optimal design.
