Abstract

This study aimed to find out the changes in the socio-economic roles of
housewives as factory laborers in Gambarsari Village, Kemangkon Subdistrict,
Purbalingga Regency and its benefits for the community. The population in this
study were housewives who also worked as factory laborers in Gambarsari
Village. Total Sampling was used as the sampling technique which took a sample
based on the total population of 73 housewives. A questionnaire was used to
collect data about socio-economic roles. Data on the social role were about the
wives' role to meet the needs of the husbands, their roles as mothers of the
children and their roles as housewives, as well as their economic role which
dominates family income and fulfillment of family needs. The data were analyzed
by quantitative using tabulation by percentage. The results of this study indicate
that there is a change in the roles of housewives, namely the changes in social
terms which have decreased by an average percentage of 43.46% and the changes
in economic terms which have increased with an average percentage of 57.83%.
