Abstract

Nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum L.) is one of the potential plants as a source
of raw material for biodiesel. Its seeds contain 74% of oil which is higher than
ricinus plants(40-60%)and oil palms(46-54%) which become the government's
priority to develop. Nyamplung plants also have high seed productivity that
reaches 20 tons/ha which is higher than Jatropha curcas(5 tons/ha), and oil
palms(6 tons/ha). One of the potential areas to grow nyamplung plants is the
coastal area of South Kebumen Regency. This research was conducted to discover
the population of nyamplung plants in South Kebumen Regency which included
the sub-district of Puring, Petanahan, Klirong, Bulupesantren, Ambal, and Mirit
using a survey as the method. The samples were taken using the exploration
method by exploring the whole area with nyamplung plants. The results
discovered that there were I 0,862 stands of nyamplung plant consisted of 2.098
stands of seedling (19.32%), 4.743 stands of stake (43.67%),2.067stands of
pole(l9.03%),and 1.954stands of tree (17.99%). The composition of the stands
showed a less ideal condition in the regeneration process because there were more
stakes than seedlings. It was viewed from the spread that nyamplung stands were
mostly found in Ambal sub-district, reaching 2.709 stands (30%).
