Abstract

This study aims to determine water quality, individual chopping, diversity
and dominance of fish in the Pel us River in 2020. This research was conducted in
January - March 2020 using a survey method with purposive random sampling
technique. Sampling was carried out at three locations, namely the upstream area
(Pandak Village), the middle river channel area (Arcawinangun Village) and the
downstream area (Pajerukan Village). This research was conducted at noon (07.00
- 11.00) and night (19.00 - 22.00) three times with one month intervals. Fish
sampling results were identified using the book Taxonomy and Key to Fish
Identification (Saanin 1968) and the Indonesian Freshwater Fish book in Western
and Sulawesi (Kottelat et al, 1993). Subsequently verified at \VWW.fishbase.org.
The results showed that the quality of the waters in the Pel us River, Banyumas
Regency, was still feasible to support fish livelihoods. During the research, there
were 292 fish belonging to 9 species, 5 families and 3 orders. The highest
chopped individual fish was in the Cyprinidae Family with 273 individuals
(93.49%) and the lowest chopped individual was the Channidae Family with one
tail (0.34%). The fish diversity index in the Pelus River is low, this shows that the
presence of fish consists of a few species with uneven numbers of individuals and
the dominance index of fish families is moderate with a moderate range with a
range of 0.291 - 0.684 which indicates dominance by a particular fish family,
namely the Cyprinidae family.
