Abstract

The research entitled Teacher's strategies to improve students activeness in learning English was aimed to fmd out the strategies used to find out the strategy that is used by the teacher to improve students activeness in the class, and find out what the frequent strategy that use by the teacher. This research used a qualitative survey method. The subjects of this research were two English Teachers in SMA Muhammadiyah Purbalingga, and four English Teachers in SMK Muhammadiyah Bobotsari. The researcher used questionnaire and interview as the instruments for collecting the data. The strategy used by the teacher in improving students activeness in the classroom is Modelling, Mistakes, Feedback, Cooperative Learning, Experiental Learning, Student-LED Classroom, Class Discussion, Inquiry Guided Instruction, Lesson Objective Transparancy, and Graphics Organizers. The researcher found the average of Giving feeback obtained 93.33.4% and was categorized as mostly used by the teacher. Giving Feedback become the most dominant strategy used by the teachers, all of the English Teacher used this strategy to improve students activeness in leaning English.
