Abstract

This research aimed at identify the kinds of grammatical problems in writing recount text and the dominant grammatical problem made by the First Year Students of Senior High School Sumpiuh. This research was Survey Research. The research was conducted in SMK Muhammadyah Sumpiuh. The population was the First Year Students in Academic Year 2019-2020. The researcher took Class X F TKJ 1 which consisted of 31 students. The instrument used was writing test. The student’s grammatical problems classified into four categories based on the kinds of grammatical problems. It can be seen from the percentage result where misformation 40%, then followed grammatical problem of omission 38%, problem of addition 15%, and misordering only 7%. It can be concluded that the First Year Students (X F TKJ 1) of SMK Muhammadyah Sumpiuh had many grammatical problems in writing recount text. Therefore, based on the data, the most dominant students’ grammatical problem on writing recount text is misformation were 40%.
