Abstract

The study aimed to determine the profile of spring onion farmers in Serang village, Karangreja sub-district, Purbalingga regency, the influence of production factors of land area, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor on the production of spring onions, and the income of the farmers.
A quantitative descriptive method was used in this study. The data were primary and secondary data. The data were collected using a simple random sampling method with a lottery technique without replacement. There were 40 people as the respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative method, Cobb-Douglass function analysis, and mathematical income formula.
The results revealed that the farmers were about 15-64 years old with primary school graduates/equivalent education levels. They had a land area of less than 0.5 ha. They had a family of 2-3 people and were experienced in farming spring onions for 10-20 years with a total production of 1000-2000 kg. The results of the t-test indicated that land area, seeds, and pesticides significantly affected the production of spring onions in Serang village. The average income received by the farmers during the harvest season in July 2022 was IDR 4,610,213, with an average land area of 0.22 ha.
