This study aimed to improve students' writing skills on descriptive texts in class X DKV SMK YPT 2 Purbalingga academic year 2022/2023. The research subjects were 27 students. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research design in this study was the model of Kemmis and McTaggart (1988). This research was conducted by carrying out two cycles. Each cycle consisted of one meeting. The data collected at the time of the study were through several instruments; interview guidelines, observation sheets, and tests. The results showed that there was an increase in students' writing scores in descriptive texts. The Minimum Mastery Criterion-Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) score targeted in English lessons is 70,00. The mean score of students in the pre-action test cycle 1 was 71,11. Meanwhile, the students' mean score in the second cycle of the post-action test was 76,22. The mean score of students in the 2nd cycle showed that student scores were included in the "Very Good" category based on Heaton (1989) regarding the writing assessment rubric. In addition, the number of students whose scores exceeded the KKM scores in the 1st cycle were 22 students and the number of students whose scores exceeded the KKM scores in the 2nd cycle were 23 students. It can be concluded that the mind mapping technique has been able to improve students' writing skills in descriptive text.
