Abstract
School culture is a set of values that are close to behavior, daily policy
traditions that are commonly practiced by school principals, teachers, education
staff, students in the school environment. Many things are done by school culture
to improve religious practices in schools, so as to create a conducive atmosphere in
carrying out learning in schools. The purpose of this research is to find out the role
of school culture in improving religious practices at SMP Muhammadiyah 3
Purwokerto in the 2022 Academic Year
The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research.
Qualitative research is research that aims to understand the phenomena experienced
by research subjects. For example behavior, perception, motivation, action, and so
on, holistically in a descriptive manner in a special natural context without human
intervention and by making optimal use of scientific methods commonly used by
Research Subjects The subjects in this study were school principals, teachers and
students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto. The subject of this research is the
main source of research that has data. The subject of this research is the intended
subject to expect information about matters relating to the problem under study,
namely what is the research center or research target. data collection techniques
interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used a qualitative
descriptive approach, namely describing the description of the data obtained and
connecting one another to get general conclusions.
The results of the study show that the school culture implemented at SMP
Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto includes; First, get used to good behavior by shaking
hands, greeting and answering, covering the private parts and saying politely.
Second, habituation activities at the beginning and end of the learning process by
praying before and after lessons and reading the Koran. Third, the school rules by
implementing the rules that have been made by the school for order and
convenience in learning play a role in increasing religious practices carried out at
SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto including; recitation of the Koran, dhuha
prayers and noon prayers in congregation, cult after midday prayers, infaq every
Friday and social services every Friday.
