Abstract

Developments in technology in the digital era have led to an increase in human demand for electrical energy. This increase in energy demand is not proportional to the availability of existing resources. Where the energy used so far still comes from fossils whose existence is decreasing and cannot be renewed, and the process of forming this energy takes a very long time, for one hundred years. The use of electricity in Indonesia with energy sources from fossils still dominates compared to other energy sources. Of the current total power generation capacity in the country, coal-based steam power plants (PLTU) still dominate, which is 24,883 MW or 48% of the total domestic generating capacity of 52,231 MW. The second position is occupied by gas and steam power plants (PLTGU) with gas fuel of 11,262 MW or 22%. Diesel power plants (PLTD) using diesel fuel are 5,771 MW or 11%. Gas power plants (PLTG) and engine and gas power plants (PLTMG) are 3,944 MW or 8% (BPS data and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (2017) in http://industri.bisnis.com (2018)). The results showed that the higher the combustion temperature, the greater the electrical power generated by the MFC system. The membrane that produces the highest electrical power is obtained from a sample of 950ºC combustion temperature variations and 9% CaO concentration variations with an average electricity generated of 361.5714 mW.
