Abstract

Adoption by adoptive parents, one of whom is a foreign national, does not yet have regulations that clearly prohibit it, so this creates deviations from the rules, one of which includes the issue of belief where the religion adopted by the adoptive parents is different from that of the adopted child in Angeline's case. This study aims to examine legal protection for adopted children and find out the obstacles that occur in adoption by foreign nationals who have different religions. The research method used is normative juridical method using primary legal materials obtained from legislation and secondary legal materials obtained from books and journals. The results of the study explain that legal protection for adopted children has not yet been achieved, namely the welfare of children and the existence of legal institutions in Indonesia are not in sync, so this has led to the emergence of a new problem in the form of barriers to adoption.
