Developments in the economic sector, especially in the banking sector, have increased dramatically. However, Muslims face obstacles and challenges to be able to balance at the level of globalization so that on the other hand Muslims must be strongly guided by the provisions of Islamic Shari'a. So then the formation of Islamic banking whose operational system is in accordance with the principles of Islamic law and Islamic values. The development of Islamic banking is getting better and increasing from year to year. The purpose of this study is to find out how the people of Kedungwungu Village, Tegal Regency understand and the factors that influence it.
This study uses a type of field research (field research) with a qualitative approach and data collection techniques with interviews, observations, and documentation. Primary data sources in the form of informants and secondary data in the form of data obtained from books, journals and theses. After the data is collected, it will be analyzed by taking the main data and then drawing conclusions.
The results of this study indicate that the understanding and interest of the people of Kedungwungu Village towards Islamic banks and their products is still very low, namely only 1 informant who understands Islamic banks and 2 informants who are interested in Islamic banks out of a total of 13 informants. Each informant had a background in job segmentation, including: entrepreneurs, farmers, farm labourers, handymen and retirees (PNS). This is motivated by several factors, namely low knowledge, lack of experience, social or environmental conditions and lack of information.
