Abstract
Food and/or beverage products are halal or not is still an issue among Muslims. And it is the duty of the state to provide protection to users of products originating from outside Indonesia. To ensure legal certainty for the protection of users of good food products. The purpose of this study is to find out how the process of assisting halal certification by the Halal Center and the role of the Halal Center in assisting halal product certification at the University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.
This research is a type of field research with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses primary data from interviews and applicable legislation, then the collected data will be analyzed qualitatively using descriptive methods, namely describing the description of the data obtained and connecting with each other to obtain a general conclusion.
This study shows that the Halal Center of the University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto has carried out the mandate of Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Guaranteed Halal Products by providing protection to the public as consumers by implementing various work programs, especially assistance to business actors with the aim that the products produced can be certified halal. so that people get the right to security, safety, and comfort and do not conflict with the Shari'a in consuming a product.
Referring to Government Regulation Number 39 of 2021 Article 79 paragraph (4) that business actors who apply for halal certification through the Halal Center of the Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto are in accordance with the Government Regulation, because in the Halal Center of the Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto there is a companion in the process of halal products who will accompany and supervising the process of halal products. And the role of assisting in halal product certification carried out by the Halal Center at the Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto has been achieved, because business people feel very helped by the assistance.
