Abstract

Background: In this study the plant used is Quinine (Cinchona succirubra).
Alkaloid kinkona is an active compound contained in quinine plants, can be
isolated from the bark. The goal of the study was to determine the effect of
glycerin and liquid paraffin on cream preparations and cycling tests. Method:
Formula optimization is done through the Simplex Lattice Design method
approach with a total of 8 formulas. The results of the evaluation of the physical
properties of the cream are processed with Design Expert software. Results: In
this study obtained the optimum formula with glycerin concentrations of
8.37424% and liquid paraffin 25.6258%. The results of the evaluation of quinine
skin extract cream with optimal formula obtained pH 6.34, viscosity 2886.23cp,
spread power 5 cm, and akat 01.58 seconds. Conclusion: Cycling test results
show a stable formula.
