Abstract

In geography subjects where most of the material contains qualitative and quantitative presentations, usually the method used by the teacher is the lecture method which causes students to feel bored, so this method is considered less effective. Therefore, in the teaching and learning process, it is necessary to have a more effective learning approach that is able to create an atmosphere that is more active for students, especially in geography subjects. The problem studied in this study is how are students' perceptions of the use of peer tutoring methods in learning geography in class XI IPS Package C PKBM Budi Utama. The research uses quantitative methods. The research variable is the perception variable on the use of peer tutoring methods. Data collection techniques with questionnaires. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis. The purpose of this study is an effort to increase student activity and achievement by applying the Peer Tutor learning model in the geography subject of class XI IPS Budi Utama PKBM Package C Program for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. This research was carried out in stages consisting of planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. The procedure of this research consists of data collection, analysis, reflection, action, evaluation and drawing conclusions. the results of the t-test for the difference in mean produced tcount of 49.33 which was then consulted with table at a significant level of 5%, tcount lies within the 49.33> 2.052 area. This shows that H0 is rejected, so there is a significant difference in the average score between the experimental class and the control class. This means that after the two samples were treated, they both had different abilities. Student achievement with the peer tutor elaboration learning model is higher because it uses the organization of lesson content to make it easier for teachers to educate students with the help of the most accomplished students in the class, so that students gain knowledge from their own friends based on the knowledge they already have and encourage students to be active.
