Abstract

This research aimed to create Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) based knowledge assessment instrument on the subject matter of Natural Disaster Mitigation in State High Schools of Banyumas Regency. This was a research and development with Sugiyono-modified Borg and Gall model (2015) using its nine steps such as:(1)potential and problem,(2)collecting information,(3)product design, (4)design validation, (5)design revision, (6)product testing, (7)product revision,(8)test usage, and (9)product revision. The data of testing results were analyzed using Microsoft excel program. The results showed that from 30 question items developed, 28 were accepted in the question bank to be part of the final product because those questions had fulfilled the validity criteria, distinguishing power, level of difficulty, and distractor effectiveness. Besides, the whole question also fulfilled the reliability criteria. As for the questions were not accepted to be part of the final products were question number 2 and 15 because they were not valid, had bad distinguishing power and distractor quality.
