Abstract

Land resources are natural resources that are very important for human survival. Land is needed in every human activity, such as for agriculture, industrial areas, residential areas, transportation, or areas that were maintained for scientific purposes. One phenomenon in land use was land conversion of land. Each area could not be separated from land and its use which was a dynamic thing. One characteristic of the development process of an area was the change in land use. The purpose of this study was to determine the depletion of paddy fields in South Purwokerto sub-district in 2005-2017. The data consisted of secondary data including the data of land use in South Purwokerto sub-district in 2005-2017, the data of population, the data of rainfall, the data of area, the data of land use area, the data of land use map in 2005 2017, and earth map. Data analysis was performed by comparing land use maps in 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2017 that had been validated using a GIS overlay analysis. Overlay analysis techniques could be performed with ArcGIS spatial data processing software. The depletion map of paddy fields produced in this case was in the form of 3 time periods, namely the period of 2005-2010, 2010-2015, and 2015-2017. During the period of 2005-2017 over a period of 12 years, the depletion of paddy fields in South Purwokerto sub-district was 23.84 hectares, most of the paddy fields in each sub-district in South Purwokerto sub-district experienced depletion.
