Abstract

Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) according to the World Health Organization (WHO) is an acute infection that attacks one or more parts of the respiratory tract from the nose to the alveoli (sinus, middle ear cavity, pleura). This infection is caused by viruses, fungi, and bacteria. This ARI disease is most commonly found in children and is the most frequent reason for coming to the hospital or health center for inpatient or outpatient treatment. Children under five years are a group that has an immune system that is still vulnerable to various diseases. According to WHO in 2012, 78% of children under five who came to visit health services were due to ARI. Handling of non-pneumonic ARI in toddlers is enough with supportive treatment and no need for antibiotics. The administration of non-pneumonic ARI antibiotics consisted of amoxicillin (75%), cotrimoxazole (8.3%) and cefadroxil (13.9%). Based on this background, this study was conducted to determine the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics at the Banyumas District Health Center by comparing the sensitivity of the suspension mixture preparation from the Banyumas District Health Center and industrial manufactured drugs in the form of reconstitution suspension. Methods: This study used an experimental research design. The study was conducted in the microbiology laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto from February to April 2020. The sampling technique in this study was random sampling with the examination material in the form of sputum. Sputum samples taken from non-pneumonia ARI patients. The sample is given treatment or intervention. The treatments were sensitivity sensitivity test to antibiotics in suspension preparations taken from the Public Health Center in Banyumas Regency and suspension from the Pharmaceutical Industry. Results: This study showed the presence of bacteria that cause ARI in the sputum of patients at the Banyumas District Health Center. The bacteria found were Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Klabsiella pneumoniae. The descriptive results showed that Streptococcus pneumoniae was categorized as sensitive and resistant, Staphylococcus aureus was included in the resistant category and Klabsiella pneumoniae was included in the sensitive category. Based on the Kruskal-Wallis analysis, it was shown that there was a significant difference in the sensitivity of compounded antibiotics and finished drugs. The results of the correlation analysis showed that there was a weak relationship between sensitivity and resistance to the preparation of compounded antibiotics and finished drugs at the Banyumas District Health Center. Conclusion: Antibiotics treated without compounding had a greater inhibitory power than compounded and there was a very weak relationship between sensitivity and resistance.
