The research aimed to describe types of speech acts often used by teachers to grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Susukan Banjarnegara Regency, including the types and functions of expressive speech acts. This research type was qualitative descriptive. The data were obtained from the observations of the Indonesian language teaching-learning process. Research data sources were subject teachers and students of grade VIII students of SMP NEGERI 2 Susukan, Banjarnegara Regency, for the 2022/2023 academic year. The data collection techniques employed note-taking, video recording, and evaluation techniques by grouping data based on its type and function. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was Data Reduction, where the obtained data was recorded more thoroughly and in more detail. The analysis and discussion found six types of expressive speech acts and eleven functions of expressive speech acts between the teacher and the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Susukan.
