Abstract

Rice lice are warehouse pests whose presence can reduce the quality of rice storage products. The efficacy of plants containing secondary metabolite compounds can be an alternative for warehouse pest control that is more environmentally friendly. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Bratawali stem powder as an effort to control rice lice. The study consisted of five (5) experimental groups, namely the treatment group based on the Bratawali stem powder test material of 5% (K1), 10% (K2), 15% (K3), 20% (K4), and control (K0), each treatment was repeated five times, so that there are 25 experimental units. Observation of pest mortality was carried out 24 hours after treatment for seven (7) days. At the end of the observation, the percentage of seed damage, seed weight loss and feeding inhibition index were calculated. The test on mortality of pest mortality showed a higher level of effectiveness than control with K4 treatment reaching 30% mortality. The level of seed damage in the control showed the highest percentage (1.88%) and the lowest was 0.66% in the K4 treatment. The highest percentage of seed weight loss was 0.19% (K0) and the lowest was 0.05% (K3). The results showed that the application of Bratawali extract was able to increase the death rate of rice polar pests and caused an increase in the food inhibition index of these pests.
