Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the know-want-learned
strategy in teaching reading. In this study, a quasi-experimental research approach
was utilized, and the participants were students in the 11th grade at a vocational
high school in Karanganyar, with a total of 50 students participating. The data
collection method was a tests, which were divided into two: pre-test and post-test
with a total of 25 items for each test instrument. The data analysis technique was a
t-test. The findings demonstrated that the value of the t-test was more significant
than the t-table, which means that there is an effect on the treatment. In
conclusion, the K-W-L strategy was shown to be an efficient strategy for teaching
students in reading.
