Abstract

This study aimed to determine and reveal the soil macrofauna diversity in the ex-Garbagedump (TPA) Gunung Tugel, Kedung Randu Village, Patikraja Sub-district, Banyumas Regency in 2022 which included individual count, diversity, and dominance as well as environmental quality that supported soil macrofauna life. The method used in this study was a purposive random sampling technique. Sampling was carried out from January to June 2022 six times with an interval of one month, namely during the day (06.00 - 08.00) and at night (18.00 - 20.00). Sampling and environmental quality measurements were carried out at two research locations; the first Location was in the northern and eastern areas of the ex-TPA Gunung Tugel area and the second Location was in the southern and western areas of the ex-TPA Gunung Tugel area. The results of the sampling were identified in the book An Introduction to the Study of Insects and the book Ecology of Soil Animals. The results showed that the individual count of soil macrofauna obtained was 1,934 individuals belonging to 22 species, 18 families, and 11 orders. The highest number of soil macrofauna individuals was members of the Family Formicidae with 1,388 individuals. While the lowest macrofauna individual count was one member of the Caelifera Family and one from Scincidae. Individual counts of soil macrofauna on the former Gunung Tugel landfill site were included in the quite abundant category. Soil macrofauna diversity index in the ex-TPA Gunung Tugel ranged from 1.399 - 2.015 with an average of 1.629 based on the Shannon - Winner criteria indicating a moderate level of diversity because 1<H'>3. Soil macrofauna dominance index in the former Gunung Tugel landfill ranged from 0.177 to 0.366 with an average of 0.271 based on Simpson's criteria indicating a low level of dominance because 0<D<0.5. The environmental quality of the former Gunung Tugel landfill has not been optimally supported for the life of soil macrofauna.
