Abstract
This research was conducted in Linggasari Village, Kembaran Sub-district of Banyumas Regency, from March to May 2022. The research objectives were to 1) determine the cost and income analysis of Bengkuang or Jicama farming in the Village, 2) recognize its feasibility, and 3) reveal the obstacles and solutions faced by the Jicama farmers. The method used in this research was quantitative descriptive analysis. The data were collected in the form of primary and secondary data. Data collection included observation, interviews, and documentation. The sampling technique used a census, namely 36 Jicama farmers. The study results concluded that the total costs incurred by the farmers with an average land area of 0.41 Ha in the 2021 planting season were IDR. 8,520,618, while the farmer's income is IDR. 18,037,159. The feasibility of the farming has an R/C Ratio value of 2.71 or R/C > 1. Jicama farming in Linggasari Village is feasible to cultivate. While the B/C Ratio value is 1.71, farming is economically profitable and feasible to develop because the B/C value is 1. Constraints to Jicama farming are high seed prices, large capital for farming, uncertain weather, pests, diseases attacking plants, and soil conditions being damaged due to continuous planting. The solutions are to (1) produce their seeds, (2) manage finances well, (3) choose the right planting time, (4) use pesticides and fertilizers not to be excessive, and (5) arrange regular planting.
