Abstract

Green mustard as a vegetable that contains quite complete nutrition can improve or maintain body health if it is consumed regularly. In Indonesia, vegetable farmers still use inorganic fertilizers to fertilize mustard greens. Research on the growth and yield characteristics of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) fertilized using compost: a comparative study on the use of Apu-apu (Pistia stratiotes L.) and Gamal (Gliricidia sepium) compost was carried out at the Experimental Garden II, Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto from October-December 2021. The research design used a single factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 9 levels, each treatment factor contained four replications (blocks) and each replication contained three sample polybags. Compost fertilizer using Apu-apu with doses (10, 20, 30 and 40 g/polybag) and Gamal (10, 20, 30 and 40 g/polybag). The addition of the highest number of leaves (9.50 strands) was fertilized using Apu-apu compost 40 g/polybag and Gamal compost 30 g/polybag. The widest leaf area (132.97 cm) was obtained from the addition of apu-apu compost 40 g/polybag. The highest plant fresh weight (76.17 grams) was obtained by adding apu-apu compost of 40 g/polybag. The most optimal dose addition was in the treatment of K4 (Apu-apu compost at a dose of 40 g/polybag) and K7 (Gamal compost at a dose of 30 g/polybag).
