Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of literacy movement participation on the ability to read
descriptive texts in Indonesian subjects for seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Pandanarum
Banjarnegara. This type of research is descriptive quantitative and uses the ex post facto method.
Then this research uses simple random sampling. Collecting data using questionnaires and tests.
The study used descriptive analysis techniques with the help of the IBM SPSS 26 computer
program. The population of this study was all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1
Pandanarum with a research sample of 50 students. The data analysis used is the normality test
of the data, and the final analysis test which consists of a simple regression test, a correlation test
and a coefficient of determination test. The results showed that: (1) tcount > ttable with a
significance level of 5% or 0.05. Thus the results of tcount 2.149 > 2,013 ttable and a significance
value of 0.037 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the literacy
movement on the ability to read descriptive texts at SMP N 1 Pandanarum class VII, Ha is
accepted and Ho is rejected. (2) the magnitude of participation in the influence of the school
literacy movement on reading ability is 30.2%. The remaining amount is
69.8% can be influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
