Every author has a different writing style. That difference can be seen when they analyze sentences based on the structure. Sentence structure is a word order formed into a sentence consisting of subject, predicate, object, adverb, and complement. This thesis studied the sentence structure variations in the descriptive texts of Kompas’selected short story collection 2020. Description text is an essay describing an object the writer explains so the readers can also feel it. At the same time, Kompas’selected short story collection is a book containing several short stories published by PT Kompas Media Nusantara. This research was conducted to find out the variations of sentence structure used by literature work authors, especially those whose writings were published by PT Kompas Media Nusantara and the purpose of this research was to describe those variations. The method used in the description texts of 17 short stories using observation, documentation, and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman (1984) technique which inclueded data identification, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed 67 variations of sentence structure.
