Abstract
The objectives of this study were: (1) to develop English Instructional Materials in SMANSAKA TV based on Problem Based Learning of grade eleventh students of SMAN 1 Karangreja, Purbalingga, (2) the expert judgements’ analysis toward the development of English Materials in SMANSAKA TV, (3) the English teachers’ perception toward the development of instructional materials based on problem based learning method of grade eleventh students of SMAN 1 Karangreja, Purbalingga. This research was a research and development (R&D) study. in the academic year of 2021/2022. This study was using three steps conducted in this research: conducting needs analysis, developing the materials , expert judgment.
This research involved 36 eleventh grade students in the academic year of 2021/2022 and two English teachers of SMAN 1 Karangreja, as the subjects to collect the data for need analysis step. Questionnaire and interview guidelines were the instruments used to collect the data related to the students’ need in learning English. The data from questionnaire were calculated the percentage. Based on the results of needs analysis, the curriculum, and the syllabus used in the school, the draft of English materials was developed. The draft was reviewed and evaluated by the expert judgment. Todetermine the quality of develop materials, the expert judgement put a check in the scale of each item of the questionnaire. The quality of the develop materials was based on the mean value of the aspect of the questionnaire.
The result of the need analysis shows that English Instructional materials is needed by the students through SMANSAKA TV. The instructional materials was developed based on the needs analysis and some steps of the development was applied to make into two videos. The first video is about Cause and Effect and the second one is Explanation Text. Finally the result of the expert judgement showed that the developed materials are suitable for the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Karangreja. This is shown by the mean value of 2,50 was categorized as Good.
