Abstract

Bran oil or better known as rice bran oil with the chemical formula CH3OH is
an oil extracted from rice bran, bran oil can be consumed and contains vitamins,
antioxidants and nutrients needed by the human body. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effect of mixing time with the amount of n-hexane solvent on
the yield on the oil yield produced by maceration extraction. The results showed
that the larger the volume of solvent, the smaller the oil yield. The yield of oil
produced in this study was 0.8% with a solvent volume of 600 ml and a stirring time
of 300 minutes. The longer the stirring time, the smaller the oil yield produced. The
resulting yield is 0.74% with a stirring time of 420 minutes and a solvent volume of
300 minutes. In this study, the best yield produced in this study was 3.7% with a
solvent volume of 200 ml and a stirring time of 300 minutes.
